Papua New Guinea Joins the 50-in-5 Campaign

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, May 29, 2026

50-in-5 is proud to welcome the Government of Papua New Guinea, represented by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and its SevisPNG Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Program, to the campaign. This milestone reflects Papua New Guinea’s strong commitment to ensuring that digital transformation creates meaningful impact for citizens’ everyday lives.

Papua New Guinea’s participation reflects the Government’s commitment to modernising public services through secure, trusted, and interoperable digital systems under the broader Digital Government agenda and the SevisPNG Program.

“Papua New Guinea’s participation in the 50-in-5 initiative demonstrates our commitment to accelerating digital transformation and building trusted, inclusive, and interoperable Digital Public Infrastructure that improves service delivery for all Papua New Guineans. Through SevisPNG, we are laying the foundation for a connected digital government ecosystem that will enhance accessibility, transparency, efficiency, and innovation across government services”, said Mr. Steven Matainaho, Papua New Guinea’s Secretary for the Department of ICT.

50-in-5 aligns with Papua New Guinea’s broader national priorities around digital inclusion, public sector modernisation, financial inclusion, economic participation, cybersecurity resilience, and improved citizen access to government services. Through the SevisPNG DPI Program, the country is progressing key foundational digital infrastructure initiatives including: SevisPass, SevisWallet, SevisDEX, SevisPay and SevisPortal.

By becoming the 37th country to join the 50-in-5 campaign, and the first one from Oceania, Papua New Guinea will engage in peer learning and collaboration with other member countries, sharing its experience in building inclusive and interoperable DPI while also drawing on global best practices to further strengthen its digital transformation journey.
