Colombia Joins the 50-in-5 Campaign

Bogotá, Colombia, May 27th, 2026
50-in-5 is proud to welcome the Government of Colombia, represented by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), to the campaign. This milestone reflects Colombia’s strong commitment to accelerating the development of its national DPI strategy for the benefit of all citizens.
Colombia’s participation in 50-in-5 reflects its commitment to interoperable, secure, and inclusive digital public infrastructure capable of reducing barriers, simplifying administrative processes, and expanding opportunities for millions of citizens, especially rural populations and migrants, as stated by ICT Minister Carina Murcia.
“The country is moving toward a digital trust model that puts technology at the service of people. Our participation in the ‘50 in 5’ initiative reflects the country’s commitment to interoperable, secure, and inclusive digital public infrastructure, capable of reducing barriers, simplifying procedures, and expanding opportunities for millions of citizens, especially for rural and migrant populations,” stated Carina Murcia, Colombia’s ICT Minister.
Over the past four years, Colombia’s Ministry of ICT (MinTIC) consolidated the country’s position as a regional leader in innovative digital public services, advancing technologies that are secure, accessible, and people-centered. The focus has been on three pillars: strengthening digital identity mechanisms, interoperability, and verifiable credentials to facilitate citizen access to both public and private sector services.
A concrete milestone was the Digital Public Infrastructure Bootcamp on Verifiable Credentials, led by MinTIC in partnership with the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI) and developed alongside national public entities. The initiative enabled the design and validation of real DPI implementation use cases for citizen services.
By becoming the 34th country to join the 50-in-5 campaign, and the 8th in Latin America and the Caribbean, Colombia will engage in peer learning and collaboration with other member countries, sharing its experience in building inclusive and interoperable DPI while also drawing on global best practices to further strengthen its digital transformation journey.
