Chile Joins the 50-in-5 Campaign

50-in-5 is excited to welcome the Government of Chile, represented by the Digital Government Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, to the campaign. The announcement took place during Regional DPI Day at the Regional DPI Forum, hosted by another 50-in-5 country, the Dominican Republic. The event hosted a multi-stakeholder dialogue on governance, safeguards, regional capacity, digital public goods, and use cases, with a focus on moving from pilots to real-world impact. This step highlights Chile’s dedication to delivering digital public services that are accessible, efficient, and transparent for everyone.

Aura Cifuentes, Director of Latin America and the Caribbean at Co-Develop; Maurice Poirrier, Acting Director of the Digital Government Secretariat at the Ministry of Finance of Chile; and Jon Lloyd, Director of Advocacy and 50-in-5 Program Director at the DPGA Secretariat, announce Chile’s participation in the 50-in-5 campaign at the Regional DPI Forum in the Dominican Republic.

For Chile, participating in the campaign will help build on the progress made in recent years, with a focus on digital identity and inter-agency interoperability. The aim is to establish a shared technological foundation that powers more integrated, trustworthy, and citizen-centered services.

“Joining the 50-in-5 campaign will allow us to learn from other countries facing challenges similar to ours and make faster progress. We want to strengthen digital identity and connectivity among public institutions to offer simpler, safer, and higher-quality services to citizens”, said Maurice Poirrier, acting director of the Digital Government Secretariat.

The engagement will open up opportunities for cooperation in areas such as open standards, digital public goods, technical capabilities, and governance models. Additionally, Chile will be able to share its experience and learn about solutions that help reduce costs and shorten implementation times.

As the 41st country to join 50-in-5 and the 9th from Latin America and the Caribbean, Chile will collaborate with member countries through peer learning. By sharing its expertise in building inclusive, interoperable DPI and drawing on global best practices, Chile will continue to accelerate its digital transformation journey.
