Pakistan Joins 50-in-5

Islamabad, Pakistan. 50-in-5 is thrilled to welcome the Government of Pakistan to the campaign, a commitment announced by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT) and the newly established Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) under the overarching Digital Nation Pakistan vision.

By leveraging NADRA’s national identity system, the State Bank of Pakistan’s Raast instant payment platform, and WASL—the forthcoming National Data Exchange Layer—Pakistan is actively connecting its core infrastructure into one interoperable, citizen-centric ecosystem.

“Joining 50-in-5 is a clear statement of intent. We have built strong foundations in digital identity, instant payments, and the development of the national data exchange layer; now we will connect and scale them so every Pakistani, from our largest cities to our most remote districts, can access services and opportunities through safe, trusted digital channels,” said Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication.

“The Pakistan Digital Authority exists to turn the Digital Nation vision into systems citizens feel in their daily lives. Our priority is interoperability: a citizen should prove their identity once, share data securely with consent, and receive services and payments seamlessly across federal and provincial departments,” noted Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairperson of the PDA.

As the 42nd country to join 50-in-5, Pakistan will collaborate with member countries through peer learning. By sharing its expertise in building citizen-centric DPI and drawing on global best practices, Pakistan will continue to accelerate its digital transformation journey.
