Kazakhstan joins the 50-in-5 campaign!

Kazakhstan, June 25, 2025 – 50-in-5 is proud to welcome the Government of Kazakhstan through the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry. To the campaign, Kazakhstan is demonstrating their commitment to continuing to build and scale its digital public infrastructure.

At the core of their digital public infrastructure effort is eGov Mobile, Kazakhstan’s official e-government app which is the central pillar of its Digital ID ecosystem, enabling secure digital authentication, remote identity verification, and  enhanced access to over 200 public services. The app is used by 11 million citizens with 5.3 million monthly active users and 350,000 daily active users. It leverages biometric and mobile ID technologies, along with an embedded digital signature (EDS), to enable users to sign documents and access key platforms such as digital appeals and tax services.

Kazakhstan is also advancing its digital public infrastructure through Smart Data Ukimet, an information and analytical platform that integrates 124 government information systems, enabling secure and efficient data exchange across public agencies. Built on open-source technologies, its robust architecture and semantic interoperability power key digital services such as the Digital Family Card, which proactively supports over 6 million families by providing access to digitised social protection and facilitates immediate access to information about social services. Family Card has contributed to an estimated USD 65 million in economic impact.

Kazakhstan’s digital transformation is focused on people — not technology for technology’s sake. Our goal is to build a transparent, accessible, and efficient digital government where every step serves the interests and well-being of our citizens. Digital solutions help close distances, bringing us closer to people no matter where they live. Joining the 50-in-5 campaign is another important milestone — one that will help reduce costs and accelerate our transformation, while keeping people firmly at the center of our efforts” said Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

By becoming the 26th country to join the 50-in-5 campaign, Kazakhstan will engage in learning exchanges where countries can both benefit from Kazakhstan’s experience in building safe, inclusive, and interoperable DPI and gain valuable insights from the best practices of others.
